A Little Art, a Little Music, and a Whole Lot of Neighboring

On October 18, 2026, Mount Gretna Magazine hosted its third community-building event, this time at the Environmental Center at Governor Dick. Glorious fall weather, with sunny skies and a cool breeze, provided the perfect setting for an afternoon of food, music, art, and connection. As an added bonus, a number of hikers and other park visitors stopped by and decided to join in the fun!

At the heart of the event was a series of short, lively conversations inspired by the concept of speed dating. Participants rotated from one conversational partner to another, exploring a different question with each new pairing. The format encouraged everyone to meet new people while also discovering something new about familiar faces.

Creativity brought people together, too. A large-scale, custom coloring page designed by artist Carrie Feidt became a collaborative work of art, with 30–40 participants adding their own colorful touches throughout the afternoon. The finished piece is now on display in the main room of Governor Dick’s Environmental Center.

The Small Frogs provided a delightful musical backdrop, with their relaxed, friendly sound complementing the laughter and conversations that flowed throughout the afternoon as participants mingled, enjoyed the activities, and sampled specialty coffee drinks and tasty sandwiches from our food trucks.

We are thankful for all who participated in creating this perfect Gretna afternoon!
