Janice Balmer, Community Development Coordinator for Mount Gretna Magazine

Janice Balmer is a familiar face in Mount Gretna and has served on our Advisory Team since its formation earlier this year. Now, we’re excited to share that she’s stepped into the role of Community Development Coordinator, where she’ll help strengthen relationships and grow support for Mount Gretna Magazine through advertising, sponsorships, and fundraising. With deep local roots and a genuine love for Gretna’s unique charm, Janice is eager to connect with others who want to keep the stories flowing. Thank you, Janice! (P.S. We’re still seeking a Marketing Manager to join this effort—help us spread the word!)

More about Janice, in her own words:

Mount Gretna is home. Almost 30 years ago, my husband Brett and I chose Gretna as the place we wanted to build a family. While Gretna's landscape first grabbed my attention, the people made me want to stay. Over the years, actively contributing to the development of community has been a cornerstone of both my personal and professional lives. I have served on boards like the Mount Gretna Arts Council, helped raise funds for critical church programs, and volunteered at all kinds of events. Emceeing the January 2024 Gala in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show and handing out (frozen) water to last winter's Tame the Tower trail runners are two of my favorites!

I'm excited about joining Mount Gretna Magazine to support community development efforts. My professional experience in business development and program management positions me well to support the team. My early career as a tech industry business development director taught me the value of relationships. Motivating a team and fiscal management were skills I developed as a small business owner. Most recently, working as a public health consultant in Lebanon county re-affirmed my belief that a community is healthy when its people feel connected. Mount Gretna Magazine will foster that kind of connection not just among locals, but well beyond our geography.
